How Kelly-Moore Paints Used the Power of Video to Celebrate Company Culture

How do you best mark company celebrations when you’ve battled through and achieved against the odds? That was the challenge for Kelly-Moore Paints (KMP), which in 2021 overcame everything from the southern freeze and raging wildfires through to Covid-19, logistics difficulties, and raw materials and driver shortages.

Leaders at KMP were clear: the company’s achievements were not due to boardroom decisions or the impact of an inspiring exec. No, these were triumphs built on the shop floor, where teamwork, commitment, and camaraderie saw the firm achieve record financials in its toughest ever operating year.

Celebrating Employee Efforts

So just like Gilead Sciences and Zynga, KMP chose to celebrate employee efforts with authentic footage captured from the unique perspective of its employees across the country.

“We wanted to champion our people in a unique, imaginative way,” says John Fanely, Senior Learning and Development Specialist at Kelly-Moore Paints. “We’d just been through a period of immense pressure and difficulty. But the employee video we created fostered an incredible sense of pride among our team.”

The Role of Cinebody

Fanely adds: “By using Cinebody, we knew we could get employees involved in the video wherever they were in the US. We were able to give them direction, get immediate access to footage for speedy feedback and edits, and build a huge buzz right across the KMP team, all the way from executives through to plant managers and store workers.”

The Result: A Genuine Tribute

The end product was a heartfelt tribute to KMP's rock-solid company culture and a remarkable display of employer branding. The authenticity captured in the video resonated deeply with viewers. It showcased the dedication, resilience, and unwavering spirit of the employees, painting a vivid picture of the values upheld by KMP.
