How To Generate Successful Conference Video Content

195 video clips from 100 attendees in 72 hours

With offices in 39 countries and global revenues of $3.1 billion in 2018, positioning technology specialist Trimble is a giant in its field. But it still understands that its success is built on the back of people and relationships.

That’s why it used Cinebody to capture, organize and collate conference video content from Dimensions 2018, a three-day event it organized in November 2018.

“I had heard great things about Cinebody over the years, especially with the hype surrounding ODESZA fans leveraging the platform throughout their tour,” said Sarah Lorek, Lead Content Strategist at Trimble. “For the Dimensions conference in Las Vegas, I wanted attendees to be able to share their experience in a more personal way than simply posting on social.”

Lorek knew that Cinebody could help her to create a unique piece of video content, but she had to be organized.

“We sent an email to attendees a few days before the conference, asking them to download the app and use our project code,” she said. “I also created an image using Cinebody’s promo asset template and shared it via social.”

Over the course of 72 hours, a total 195 clips from 100 different attendees were uploaded through the Cinebody app, capturing all angles and aspects of the conference - from journeys to the venues to reactions after keynote speakers - and giving Trimble the kind of content that logistically would have been simply impossible for a single film crew to record.

Trimble used Cinebody to leverage its attendees, creatively direct individuals with push notifications, and show the human side of the event by featuring real people and reactions in the final content. With 100 people involved in the filming, Trimble’s content team also now has 100 more people willing to tell its stories – another major win!

“By allowing our attendees to capture footage of the event from their perspectives, we now have access to an endless amount of footage that captures the heart of our event,” said Lorek. “Without having any video editing experience, I was able to easily download the clips and create a recap video.”

Marketing professionals with little video experience can now coordinate and create superb content with speed and ease, a development that could revolutionize content strategies for years to come.
